Root Chakra Meditation

Muladhara, or the Root Chakra, is the first chakra and the foundation for all other chakras.  A tree simply cannot grow with out its roots and neither can we. The element of the first chakra is earth and it represents both our spiritual and physical home. The color associated with this chakra is red and it is located at the base of the spine.

As you practice this meditation, try and notice any sensations that arise in the body. The first chakra is more about the physical sensations in the body and less about the emotions that we may be attach to them. As you notice the sensations that arise, try and do so without attaching to them—name them (hot, cold, empty, achy, tense, open, heavy, light, etc.—and move on to the next sensation. Allow the breath to be the anchor.
