      <image:caption>This church sits outside of Hotel Budir, situated in a lava field on the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The day spent on the peninsula was an interesting one—driving hours without seeing a soul, the vastness of the landscape hard to comprehend. The sun just went down, it was freezing cold, and there were just a few cars left on the newly dark road. In an attempt to capture a photo of the sunset, we veered off the rode unknowingly into a snow covered ditch. Car after car pulled to the side of the road, but there wasn't much that could be done. A woman with her kids in the car offered to help "push," but the task was greater than her kindness. Finally, after about an hour of trying to dig the car out, an older Icelandic gentleman in an old Land Rover Defender pulled to the wrong side of the road. He took rope from the back of his pickup and tied his truck to ours without speaking a word—we couldn't speak his language, he couldn't speak ours. He put his truck in reverse and took us with him. Sometimes just a look, an act of kindness, a refusal of payment, a hug, and a smile transcend.</image:caption>

Bend both of your knees, placing both feet on the floor in front of you, then slide your right foot under your left leg to the outside of your left hip. Step your left foot over your right leg and place it on the floor to the outside of your right hip or thigh. Take the left fingertips to the floor behind you, and on an inhale reach the right arm up to the sky while lengthening through the spine, as you exhale, bring your right upper arm to the outside of your left thigh, above your knee. Press the left foot actively into the earth and find the rotation through the upper body. With each inhale lengthen through the spine, with each exhale, without forcing, ease into the twist a little bit more. Stay for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then repeat on the other side. Benefits: Energizes the spine and stimulates the digestive fire.</image:caption>

Take a deep breath in and lengthen through your spine, exhale sink down a little lower as you hook your left elbow outside of your right thigh. Press your palms together; pull palms toward your navel. Keep a majority of your weight in the heels, while keeping the knees and hips even. Breathe deeply for 5 full breaths. You might stay here or you might open up your arms wide to a straight line with your left hand to the outside of your left foot.  Benefits: Improves the health of the spine. Stimulates the liver, spleen, and digestive system and improves the elimination process.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>From a reclined position, draw your knees towards your chest. Cross your right leg over the top of your left with the inner thighs squeezing together. Spread arms out at shoulder height with palms facing up or you might take your left hand to the top of your right thigh. Take a deep breath in and as you exhale, let your legs fall to the left. Gaze can be up toward the ceiling or maybe over your right shoulder if that feels okay in your neck. Keep the shoulders and upper back grounded, while rotating from the lower and mid-back.
